WATCH, JEWELRY AND PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

Mail it to me from anywhere. It comes back insured.

PUBLISHED

ONE OF MINE IS IN KURONO TOKYO'S PHOTO BOOK

Kurono Tokyo, the brand founded by the independent watchmaker Hajime Asaoka, chose one of my photographs for their published book.

I mention it because in this corner of the world that is the only credential that counts for much. Anybody can say they photograph watches well. Rather fewer have been asked by a Japanese watchmaker to put a frame in print.

WHY ME

I HAVE OWNED AND SOLD WATCHES

Everything from a G-Shock to a Rolex has been through my hands, bought, worn, photographed and eventually sold.

A watch photograph goes wrong when the person holding the camera does not know what a buyer is looking for. They light it beautifully and miss the thing the buyer actually wants to see, or they hide the very detail that would have built trust.

Having sat on both sides of a sale changes what you point the camera at.

HOW IT WORKS

FIVE STEPS, START TO FINISH

01

MESSAGE ME

Tell me what you are sending and how many pieces. I will send back a price and the shipping address.

02

PACK AND POST

I will tell you exactly how to pack it. Ship insured for full value, with no brand names anywhere on the outside of the box.

03

ARRIVAL LOGGED

Reference and serial recorded, and the piece photographed before anything is handled, so its condition on arrival is documented.

04

PHOTOGRAPHED

Within three business days of arriving. Ten fully edited images per piece.

05

BACK TO YOU

Packed the way it came, shipped insured, and your images delivered through a private cloud link at full resolution.

THE ARGUMENT

THIS IS THE WORK AI CANNOT FAKE

A generated image is not your watch. It is something that resembles your watch.

For a brand new product where every unit is identical, that distinction may not matter much. For a pre-owned piece it is the whole transaction. The buyer is not admiring a watch in general. They are studying that case for hairlines, that bezel for fade, that bracelet for stretch, and deciding from those details whether you are someone to trust with several thousand dollars.

No model can generate the true condition of one specific object, because it has never seen it. And marketplaces are increasingly removing listings where the images misrepresent the item, which turns a saved fee into a closed account.

Honest photographs of real wear sell better than flattering ones, because a buyer who feels informed bids with confidence.

WHO IT IS FOR

DEALERS, COLLECTORS AND PRIVATE SELLERS

DEALERS

Inventory arrives in batches and goes back on a regular cycle. Volume pricing applies across the whole batch, which is where this gets genuinely cheap per piece.

PRIVATE SELLERS

One good piece, listed properly. The photographs usually pay for themselves several times over on anything above a few thousand dollars.

COLLECTORS

Documenting what you own, whether for your own records, for insurance, or simply because a collection deserves to be photographed properly once.

WHERE THESE IMAGES END UP

Chrono24, eBay, WatchCharts, Collecting Cars, Bring a Trailer for the watch auctions, dealer websites, Instagram, and printed material. The licence has no platform limit and no expiry, so one set covers all of it.

QUESTIONS

WHAT CLIENTS ASK BEFORE THEY SHIP

Can I really just mail my watch to you?
Yes, and it is how most of this work happens. You post the piece insured, I photograph it within three business days of it arriving, and it goes back insured in the box it came in. Message me first and I will send the address and tell you how to pack it.
How should I pack a watch for shipping?
Keep it in its own box or a padded travel case, wrap that in bubble, and put the whole thing inside a plain outer box with no branding on the outside. Never write the brand name on the label. I will send you the full instructions before you ship.
Who pays for shipping?
You cover shipping in both directions, and I strongly recommend insuring for the full value. Carrier default cover is very low and it is the carrier's policy that applies while the piece is in transit, not mine.
What if my watch is damaged or lost in the post?
While it is travelling, the carrier's insurance is what covers it, which is exactly why the declared value matters. Once it reaches me, condition is recorded on arrival and again before it goes back, so there is a clear record at both ends.
How do you record the condition of my piece?
Every arrival is logged with the reference and serial, and photographed before anything is handled. The same is done before it ships back. If a client ever questions a mark, the record answers it rather than a conversation about memory.
How long do you keep my watch?
As short a time as possible. Photographed within three business days of arriving, then packed and shipped straight back. If you need it faster, say so and I will work around it.
How many photographs do I get per piece?
Ten fully edited images per piece as standard. That covers the piece the way a serious buyer expects to see it, front to back.
What is included in the price?
The photography, the editing, and delivery through a private cloud link at full resolution. There is no separate editing fee and no travel fee at any distance.
Do you photograph jewelry as well as watches?
Yes. Rings, chains, bracelets and loose stones all work the same way and are priced the same way. Reflective surfaces are reflective surfaces.
Do you photograph other products?
Yes, anything small enough to post safely. Pens, knives, leather goods, electronics, collectibles. If you are not sure whether something is suitable, send a photograph of it and I will tell you.
What does it cost for a whole collection?
Three hundred dollars a piece for a single item, two hundred each at ten or more, and one hundred and fifty each at thirty or more. There is no upper limit on quantity.
Do you work with dealers on ongoing inventory?
Yes, and it is the arrangement that works best. Inventory arrives in batches, gets photographed on a regular cycle, and goes back. Volume pricing applies across the batch rather than per shipment.
Can I send several watches in one shipment?
Yes, and it is cheaper and safer than sending them separately. One insured package, one return, and volume pricing applies to the whole batch.
Do I own the photographs?
You get a full licence to use them anywhere, forever, with no expiry. Marketplace listings, your own website, advertising, print, all of it. Copyright stays with the photographer, which is standard.
Can I use the photos on Chrono24 and eBay at the same time?
Yes. The licence has no platform limit and no expiry, so the same set can run on every marketplace you list on, plus your own site and your advertising.
Will my photographs appear in your portfolio?
Some may. If you would rather they did not, tell me in writing and they will not. Dealers sometimes prefer their inventory stays private and that is entirely reasonable.
Do you retouch out scratches?
No, and you should not want me to. Removing wear from a photograph of a pre-owned watch misrepresents the item, which gets listings pulled and creates disputes with buyers. I light the piece properly and show it honestly.
What if the watch does not sell?
The photographs are yours regardless, with no expiry on the licence, so they carry over to the next listing or the next platform. There is no refund on work already delivered.
How quickly can I get the images back?
Photographed within three business days of arrival, then edited and delivered within five to seven business days overall. If you need it faster, rush delivery is available at two hundred dollars for every twenty images or part of that.
Do you photograph watches on location instead?
For a collection large enough to justify it, yes, and travel is quoted separately. For anything smaller, shipping the pieces in is faster, cheaper and gives a better result, because the setup here is built for it.
